CMYK Colour Confusion - Adobe Output Preview

This was a simple 4/4 business card provided cmyk that I shouldn’t have had an issue because I had run at least 12 sets previously for the same customer (customer provided pdf). Same layout just different name and contact. Problem: black background created on both sides as K89. When printed...

    Hand-Held Scoring Device

I had something like this years ago and they do work in a pinch. Box creasing tool Can't go wrong for the price, get both sizes and you'll be all set.

CMYK Colour Confusion - Adobe Output Preview

I had this happen just last week on a customer supplied pdf, it was driving me bonkers until I found it.

Tariffs - Have they, or, will they impact your business?

This brings up an interesting question, if it takes 30 to 45 days for products to be shipped from China then why would we expect to see price increases right away. Mexico and Canada I can see but not from any other country that ships via sea vessels. Some Canadian companies have already moved...

    How Many Tries??

I never touch native files, if I can't fix the issue(s) in a pdf with Pitstop, Acrobat or Quite, then I can't fix it.

    How Many Tries??

This is great! I like this approach. Thank you for the detailed write-up.

    How Many Tries??

The file you receive for a job is wrong, so you explain what needs to be corrected. Customer makes changes and sends back the file again and it’s not right, explain again and they send it back again and it’s still not #### right! The sad part is most of these jobs are small jobs that could have...

    Printer research

I've had good luck with the Canon imagePROGRAF Pro series. No clogging of the heads after extended periods of sitting idle. Not sure I'd have one taking up the space to use once a month though. I do work for another copy shop that needs larger prints every once in a while it helps me out and him...

    Brochure Folding ?

There’s an old research paper out there somewhere that explains in very a scientific way why creasing across the grain will result in a better crease. Creasing across the grain allows for both crushing the fibers and expanding the outer layers of the paper for folding. Creasing with the grain is...

    Versant 2nd BTR Metal Roller

There is no “fix” for this issue with the 2nd BTR, it’s a defect in engineering that Xerox has accepted, and we have to deal with it. Just tell your service provider to give you spare units and you will change them when you need to. Once a week, once every 2 weeks or even once a day, it’s not...

Have they, or, will the tariffs impact your business?

I think the tariffs are on hold, no sorry wrong they’re back on again…wait they could be back on again or maybe just on some products, maybe soon or maybe later. To answer your question, no, not yet.

    Partially die cut door hangers?

Unfortunately, die cutting or punching 10 pieces at a time would require a significant amount of pressure, like log splitter type of pressure. You could do one at a time in something like this Leather Cutter, but unless Hurcules works with you, you'd be limited to very small quantities. The...

    Versant 280 White Banding Mottle

I've never had this issue and I'm not sure what the solution would be. You may want to look at the drive coupling that connects the transfer belt to the flywheel. I understand that they can get broken and cause all kinds of issues. Pull out the drawer and look to see the plastic coupling that...

Versant 280 Alignment Range, specifically skew

They didn't run it on mine either and didn't know about the feature. I found it by dumb luck and frustration, but it solved my problem.

Versant 280 Alignment Range, specifically skew

There is a hardware adjustment that can be made at the paper infeed section. Not sure if your issue is the same as the issue I had on the 280 but worth a try. I fixed my alignment issue by running the Register Paper Feeding Positions. I'm not in the shop today but I believe this setting is found...

Mail Merge Numbering for Slitter Style Devices

You could do this in Quite Imposing but it’s a multi-step process and a bit of a pain, I believe they’re working on a new version that could automate it more. Best solution is Montax Imposer it has a built-in feature for imposing for these auto cutters and the price is very affordable.

KM C4065 vs Xerox PrimeLink C9200

I think the 9200 series is interesting and could be a nice light production machine. Look at the speeds for various stock weights and stock type to compare the KM and Xerox. It could help you in one direction or the other. It’s a bit odd that the Xerox slows down more on uncoated heavier stock...

    Stitched ripping booklet

This isn’t specific to the spf-20 booklet maker, but maybe try to lengthen the stitch length so it doesn’t need to clinch the booklet as tight. If it's the inertia like narseman said, then I doubt this will help. Blank uncoated cover that gets pulled off, what a pain that would be though.
