    Saturation Mailing Rates

Yes, Thank you! I just found this too 243.6.1.2 Pieces prepared with a simplified address format are exempt from the automation-compatibility and barcode requirements. If I put these two together, my interpretation is that this saturation mailing should be entered at an automation rate and not...

    Saturation Mailing Rates

There was an exception in the DMM for saturation mail with simplified addresses with no barcode that it could be entered at barcoded rates. I can no longer find that exception and was wondering if anyone knows for sure that this rate option has been removed. Theoretically, this mail should...

Disappearing ink (of a non-espionage nature)

Is the document something you could scan and overprint the copy? I know checks and some legal documents have ink that will fade with heat but I haven't encountered any documents that are signed using this ink. I remember reading an article about some inks that erase with heat and appear again...

Hybrid office and light production printer - is there such a thing?

The Xerox PrimLink C9070 is a MFP and it can be outfitted with the same type of feeders and finishers as the production level machines. I don't see how this would be any different than what you already have, other than giving you a new machine with a new lease. For a low volume user, the...

    Xerox 2nd BTR

Wonder what he meant by “it works”? I tried one and it seemed to maybe last a bit longer, certainly not a fix, but like you said, NCR was an issue. The other issue I had with the metal roller was that it would crease envelopes. So “works” means swapping out the 2nd BTR when printing NCR and...

    Xerox 2nd BTR

That is funny! He's right in an odd way, if you only use Xerox paper the problem will go away, at least in the USA Xerox no longer has any coated paper under their brand. So yes, the problem goes away because you're not using any coated paper. I too notice more toner on that same side and...

    Graphtec F - Mark2 auto feeder

I find it odd that the feeder costs more than the cutter on these. I have a Summa S one and the feeder is even more expensive than the Graphtec.

    Xerox 2nd BTR

Yes, same here. I’ve asked about this and got no answer. For the most part 90% of the roller looks like it’s brand new but once the end of the roller starts to mark the sheets it’s almost useless. I keep them around and will put them back in when running envelopes to get some more life out of...

    Substrate Storage

You should be able to find some with a Google search for horizontal sheet rack, they are about $1,100 and they will keep your substrate nice and flat. The shelf idea from Magnus59 is a good idea too, easy and quick to setup. If you're looking for something less expensive and you have the time...

Election Printing Errors in the news

Of course it’s the printer’s fault, somehow it always is and it’s easy to blame the last guy in line. For decades I had printers errors & omission insurance and never used it. With skyrocketing insurance rates, I finally had to drop the coverage this past year. I take extra care when it comes...

Bizarre issue with Ricoh flipping every fourth page 180 degrees

You can download CWS from Fiery, no need for a tech. You just need to register with Fiery now to access the latest versions. Put the Fiery software monitor on the pc and you'll get notified when they update to a newer version. It seems like they're constantly updating or fixing with newer versions.

Custom perforated paper in large quantity

The Rollem air feed with the register tape table would help in reducing the double feeds but it still requires some adjustments. The feed works pretty much the same as a bottom feed folder with air feed. The friction feed will work well but the blue feed sleeves wear out quickly. I’ve given up...

What Kind of Folder Would You Recommend?

The 8½x11 insert changes what you would need. If you didn’t do the insert, you could actually get just the right angle folder section and place it at your output of the press. It would take your folded 11x17 and fold it in half again down to 5½x8½. Don’t know much about the capabilities of your...

    Xerox Versant 3100 artifacts

The extra bracket that comes with the 607K should have a stamp on the corner that says "20". That's the bracket (inlet chute) that should be on the BTR to use with your 3100. If you look at the same bracket that came with the 859K, it will be stamped with the "20". Keep the 607K and replace the...

    Xerox Versant 3100 artifacts

Yes, you can rebuild the fuser after the belt position error. If you’re replacing the heat belt you should also replace the slip sheet and wick at the same time and make sure to soak the wick in the heat belt oil. The wick shouldn't be dripping in oil and it shouldn't cause a puddle. I wouldn't...

    Noob question on booklet bleeds

I would go with A4, with bleeds on all 4 sides but how you ask for the pages may depend on what you are or aren’t using for imposition. I prefer to use imposition software to impose booklets and ask customers to not send printer’s spreads. If you ask for printer’s spreads, you’re putting all...

    HP and Canva Announce Partnership

The difference between Adobe and Canva is, Adobe provides tools that allow users to create designs. Canva provides tools to create designs, and they want the print business revenue too. I would categorize Canva’s vision more like a Vista Print on steroids. It would be interesting to know more...

Bizarre issue with Ricoh flipping every fourth page 180 degrees

Power supply fluctuations can cause a whole lot of grief. I'd at least plug the Fiery into a UPS device and make sure you have a backup handy like Shawnd suggested. I don't have any unusual power fluctuations but my Fiery is still plugged into a UPS, they're cheap and a lot better than just a...

Bizarre issue with Ricoh flipping every fourth page 180 degrees

What happens if you run a multi page document from the document scanner instead of going through the Fiery? It seems odd that replacing a fan in the rip would require a reinstall, this should have been a power down, install fan and boot backup. Something seems to have gone wrong. My thought to...

DesignNBuy Releases DesignO 2.0 for Custom Product Options and Pricing Configurability for WooCommerce and Magento

I say the same, no upfront pricing, not interested! They have a system that will save a print shop time by allowing customers to place orders online. Somehow, they can’t do the same for their own customers even though their software pricing is less complicated than what a print shop would require.
