Wonder what he meant by “it works”? I tried one and it seemed to maybe last a bit longer, certainly not a fix, but like you said, NCR was an issue. The other issue I had with the metal roller was that it would crease envelopes. So “works” means swapping out the 2nd BTR when printing NCR and envelope jobs.

I guess I’d tell the tech to put in whatever he wants as long as it works the way it should, based on the specs and the CED. And no I'm not paying for it. So far, my dealer has come to the conclusion that it’s a problem and all they can do is replace the 2nd BTR when it starts marking the stock. It took too long but at least now they give me a spare to have on the shelf.

Just a note for those who change 2nd BTR themselves on v280.

Talking to tech recently and they said it's just been recommended the counter be reset when replacing the 2nd BTR on the V280, not something that needed doing previously. Apparently the machine adjusts voltages based on the counter.

Log in to the panel as admin - maintenance - Tech Key Operator - select 2nd BTR and hit reset.

Also in our area a bad batch have hit the market. When replaced the print might have bad distortions in the printed image i.e. image stretched off the page and mottling. Just replace with another. I haven't seen it yet but tech said he's experienced it twice.

Yes I have always reset the counter after changing the 2nd BTR. I have just gone through 2 bad 2nd BTR's which have had bad mottling. You see it straight away when performing a SIQA alignment.
