We ran all of our envelopes on our Ricoh 7110 before getting our Xante. We run NCR on our Ricoh 901 & 7110. We also run it on our KM 1050 which is a bit of a Dinosaur.

I worked in a Web Shop that had Prinergy and we had to regularly purge & destroy job out of the database. It got really touchy if we had too many jobs in the DB. We purged monthly and destroyed The previous year each month (Destroy Dec 2019 in Dec 2020). We did 300-500 jobs a week.

We just had a jam on one of our machines. A roughly 3" oval was in the ream wrapped paper and rode along until it hit the stitcher. Paper can be a real jerk.

Are you using the default Ricoh libraries? They are...not great. We use a custom library for 70-100# text. When I've had issue like this turning on the side shutter fans & pickup assist will fix it. If that doesn't work bumping the fan strength up should do the trick.

We use a counting a scale. You can make a bunch of 100/50 piles and only hand count the "short" piles. EDDM is a very small part of our work. At our last job we used calipers. They were not very accurate, at that place we did 20-50k EDDM pieces a week.
