Well, we have both in house and we use the TotalRIP for 98% of our jobs. The few jobs that we have problems with, we send through Nexus RIP. Total RIP is a little bit slower on jobs that have a ton of vectors (lots of type, etc.) but other than that it works pretty well. We're still running...

Well, I can say that we have been using Nexus for a number of years. Unless you want to buy a whole new system, being Odystar, I would just buy the upgrade to TotalRIP.

Has anyone been brave enough to install 8.6 Rev 3 or 4 yet? Run into any issues?

Re: Nexus 8.6 rev2 is out! We've run into these kinds of problems since CS2 and Nexus 8.4. We've pretty much given up on it. Whenever we run into tables that require trapping we almost always have to recreate everything manually using boxes and strokes instead of a table.

Re: Softproofs from Nexus We had this exact problem when we were using a Raster > Trap > Link workflow. We have since stopped using the Raster side of Nexus for the most part. We create a pdf, send it through the PDF trapper, imposed the trapped pdf and then just distill a pdf from there...

Re: Odystar and Instant PDF We print to postscript and use Distiller to create the pdf. We distill everything to PDFX-1/A Standards. We're not using Odystar though. We're using Nexus.

I just wanted to get everyone's opinion. We seem to be having quite a few problems with the Total Rip PDF trapper. I'm wondering if anyone has used a similar product from another company and what they thought of it. All opinions welcome. Thanks.
