    Epson Proof Resolution Setting

That sounds like a "scum" dot. Today's plates will consistently hold a dot <1%. You will NEVER see this on a continuous tone proofer. I've experienced this where a 0.7% gained to 3% on the press sheet.

    Epson Proof Resolution Setting

I'm not sure that there is an adequate solution for what you are seeking. Most, if not all, of today's inkjets are POD (Print on Demand). The nozzles only fire when the ink needs to go to the sheet. So you have the initial velocity of the ink which causes the micro-splatters. Back in the late...

    How to judge paper quality?

One of the major players in paper distribution here in SoCal holds a seminar called Paper 101 at their distribution center. I don't know if they still hold the seminar or how frequently they do it. I took it over a decade ago and I learned more than I ever wanted to know.

    Canva acquires Affinity apps

The PDFs I've received from customers who used Canva got much better once I explaned how to include bleed and vector data.

    Enfocus 1-bit TIFFs

Switch alone cannot do that. What it can do is use a workflow to have Photoshop create the 1-bit TIFF.

    Canva acquires Affinity apps

I saw today that Canva has acquired Serif's Affinity suite of creative apps. I hope this is not too little too late to be a thorn in Adobe's side. Eons ago QuarkXPress was the DTP king and Adobe's PageMaker was just a poser. Quark rested on their laurels and thought they were untouchable. Then...

Dealing With Canva Files and RGB vs. CMYK

Good video. The other main issue with a RGB black that converts to CMYK black is a registration issue when printing offset. Especially small text.

Help with lines showing only on black

Adding to @Magnus59... I think the focus is off and is only seen visually in the black because the screen is 45° and runs parallel to the laser direction. Try plotting a plate with either the C, M or Y and change the screening to 45°. If you have the same issue, I would say it's focus.

    Why Mac?

I agree with @kslight, this is really up to personal preference. I currently use a Mac 70% of the time and Windows the other 30% I personally feel that W11 has "dumbed" down the experience and that has made simple tasks a little harder to achieve. I also feel that some MS products work BETTER...

    In the past I've done a 100% and a 60% bump plate.

How to better dial in CIP3 data for KBA 106

Well, that isn't good. I think Heidelberg may have discontinued the standalone PrePress Interface as they have their own workflow that they are trying to sell. There are other 3rd party solutions available. I believe PressProfiler is one.

How to better dial in CIP3 data for KBA 106

I respectfully disagree. Prepress is just as responsible for accurate CIP3 data as they are for accurate proofs and plates. The data being generated can (and) should be adjusted by prepress as all the CIP3 drivers I know of allow adjustments on the front end.

    Esko vs Hybrid Workflow

I found Packz Hybrid not too difficult to learn. The main difference being that Esko's products tend to be Illustrator add-ons where Packz products are standalone. The both have their assets and deficits. MANY of the engineers at Packz jumped over from Esko so the knowledge is there. I found the...

    Excessive revisions and proofs

In my experience, that statement is best applied to the internal/promotional projects a company does. The printer itself can be its own worst customer.

    Excessive revisions and proofs

It really boils down the relationship that you have with your customer. If it is "transactional" work, then charge accordingly. If you have a strong working relationship with a customer/organization, then that needs to be taken into consideration. Are the "nickel and dime" charges going to erode...

Recurring spot pattern on newspaper pages

They are quite similar to sheetfed offset blankets. The only difference is the Goss Sunday 200 uses gapless blankets.

Recurring spot pattern on newspaper pages

This is because a newspaper press generally prints both sides of the web at the same moment. You need both blankets to firmly press against the web for each side to make an even impression. If you have a large "smash" in one blanket, the web does not have support in that area to provide a solid...
