There is a simple way to tell if it is a blocked channel or not. Put the Epson driver on on some computer, if you do not have it already, and in the Utilities section print a manual nozzle check. This won't attempt to clean anything and will use essentially no ink and take about 10 seconds.

You can buy a little print server box with a parallel port as shazam suggested if you don't have one laying around. Also you can just share the printer out over the network using the PC it is already attached to. No need to buy any new gear unless you are looking to dump the PC for other reasons.

Re: JDF: delusions of grandeur can you drop a jdf (xml) file + pdf in a hotfolder as a way of "posting" to the machine and then parse a log file or read a database to poll for results?
