    Can someone explain DPI?

the 8 in this discussion is 8 levels not 8 bit. it can be achieved by controling laser start stop in between the pixels on the scan axis, thus creating more than 600x600 combinations of area coverage. or it can have 8 drop sizes in the inkjet case. any of the above is done in the imaging...

    Can someone explain DPI?

the images are misleading. the human eye will not see all those details but an integral of the very small details so the difference will be less appartent if at all. in addition laser dots are not separated so that the surfaces and dots look much smoother. EG

    Black Screen Angles

Just changing angles will not work. some letters are slanted or with serifs and you come back to square one. you may try shifted angles by 7.5 degrees (old scitex style). beware that you should keep the 30 degrees between the main colors c,m,k and 15 for y. if you put the black on 90 or 0 you...

    Can someone explain DPI?

Gordon, thanks for the very learned explanation.in my opinion the phrase " keep it simple" is worth sacrifying the 100% accuracy . indeed it is only 80% accurate but works for most cases and VERY VERY VERYSIMPLE. regards EG

    Can someone explain DPI?

to make it simple: calculate the amount of combinations of pixel values . the higher the better. the equasion is: Xdpi * Y dpi * gray level#. thats it ! but, this formula assumes that the printer vendor makes all combinations usable. if the dot or spot is too big when you print 50% you might...

    z6100ps banding big time

back to media back to media well the single direction was just a test to do. if you did it and there was no change I must refer you back to media. If media advances differently along carriage travel you will get this banding. So try a better media that is well attached to the rolls of the...

    UV bandings

if you want to keep the paste with bidirectional printing try tunings the lamps to equal power. lamp power differences will create gloss banding even in high quality modes. :)

Regardless of the real reason or source of problem. to eliminate the possibility of " left right" banding try printing in one direction and if problem dissapears then we can start asking why. if they do not dissapear check for inkjet head functionality- nozzles and alignments. please whatever...

    UV bandings

UV Gloss Banding UV Gloss Banding Uni directional is the solution. multi passing will eliminate gloss so beware. i would also recommend doing a linearisation ink limiting and color profile using the same mode of printing to avoid color problems.

    polijet

Wasatch SP has capability to print separations using black, that is for sure ! My original question (see up the thread) for this discussion was how , if at all , can I configure other colors rather than black, instead. As of print quality using epson 7880 (not 7600), a correct selection of...
