dotgain on highlight area not on shadow

What dampening system is on the press? If it's an 'Epic Delta' style system, your problem could be with that. Regards

    Saphira Experiences - Happy Bundles?

Steve, They can't. But I have contacts with most of the companies whos products we are using. I use them for the technical advice.

    Saphira Experiences - Happy Bundles?

IMHO buying all of your consumables from one source is the only way to go. We buy everything from Fuji and this gives us greater purchasing power(all of our products are discounted due to the volume). We told Fuji which products that we wanted to purchase so that we always know what we are...

    Pressroom Hours

We took a 10% pay cut 1 1/2 years ago. We were told we would get it back when things got better. NOT!

    aquados

You might want to check the probe. There is a ball check valve that can get stuck & it will act like the doser is not working.

problems with print on reverse of sheet

Are you using the 1st printing unit to bump or are you running black in it? We had similar problems on an SM74 when running black in the 1st unit with unstable stock. Bumping in the 1st unit & running black in the 2nd unit helped.

problems with print on reverse of sheet

After you print the 1st side, does the paper develop either a tight edge or wavy edge?

AQ coating on an Offset Sheet

We use a low curl coating from C&A. It doesn't eliminate the curl, but it is still manageable. It is called 1581D low curl work & turn.

problems with print on reverse of sheet

Do you have an IR dryer? What temperature were you running your loads? Also, if the job was a S/W or W/T, try running the back on the same side guide as you ran the front to eliminate that.

Old school and/or New press ?

Automation does not make a good pressman. It is a tool that makes a good pressman better. It is true that with the newer, automated presses a relatively inexperienced operator can produce sellable work. But the depth of their experience will be limited to the number of problems they encounter...

what is the color sequence for process and two pms bumps

I agree with nhprinter. Cool gray 4 is 97% transparent white. It would need to go down last for proper trapping.

    plate blinding

I think it's because of calcium buildup in the rollers. I had the same problem with Toyo HyUnity ink. Like clockwork, at about 35-50M impressions the magenta would start blinding.

    Dot gain / TVI variation...

I had similar concerns on a SM74 a few years back. I would measure 1 sheet, then measure again 200 sheets later and get different dot gains on the same color. No doubling or slurring at all. So I began measuring 8 to 10 sheets and recording the average TVI. This brought the measurments down to...

Komori L-640 - Packing moving under blanket

We had this happen on new Heidelbergs. It went away after we completely cleaned off ALL of the oil that they coat the cylinders with.

    haze on sheet edges

This is an alcolor system? If so, then check the settings of the chrome roller. Try adding 1/4 to 1/2 turn on both sides & see if there are any changes.

    dog ear

If the paper has an excessive curl (either up or down) when laying on the storage drum, it will cause this. If the stock has a down curl and you are not using suckers on the storage drum, then put suckers on & this will help to straighten the stock out. If the stock has an up curl and you are...

    Compressable blanket rejuvenators

Back in the old Harris days, we used something called PBR(permanent blanket repair). You just rub it in to the back of the entire blanket. We also used Varn Step 1. These worked pretty good, unless you've got a serious smash and the outer surface of your blanket is torn.

    Heidelberg Color Bar Placement

We also crop off the text above and below the color bar sometimes. What is important, is that the solid patch remains unchanged. As for turning off the ink zone in image control, if you have a mark thru the patch or the patch is cropped short then image control will give erroneous readings (...

    Heidelberg Color Bar Placement

The sheet will read fine. You just have to turn off the zone that has the cropped patch. The only thing that we have found that image control is finicky about is the height of the color bar. If you shrink the height you will get inconsistent scans.
