Straight talk about Ricoh Pro c901 registration

When the machine is on it's on. On good days, which seem to be totally random, the machine can sustain front to back registration of around .5mm. Heat and humidity in my shop is consistent and I can't really find a connection. It seems to have a mind of it's own. The current main problem is...

    konica minolta 1100

I have a Ricoh c901 pro that has bent corners like that in the past. It always ends up being a decurling unit. Point your tech in that direction. The other basic problem is an obstruction in the paper path, but that would too easy of a fix from someone to miss.

    Glycerin on guillotine blade?

I mainly cut digitally printed work on 111# 12pt C2S and seem to get knife draw starting at about 1200 cuts. I've read that using a lubricant on the blade can extend life and reduce knife draw. My machine's manual says to use glycerin. The company I use to sharpen the blades suggested soap...

Straight talk about Ricoh Pro c901 registration

I will contact you through a private message on here to get your contact information. It would be great to talk to someone that is from out of my area about this. Thanks for chiming in!

Straight talk about Ricoh Pro c901 registration

I run all jobs with .125" bleed and between .0625 and .125" cut margin. It does help combat the drift issues. The laser controls on this machine are super rough in my opinion. 1 tick of movement = 0.5mm. I can't understand for the life of me why they wouldn't give the machine operator finer...

Straight talk about Ricoh Pro c901 registration

A 13"x19", 111# cover stock sheet, indeed! I made sure that I was more than clear in all written and verbal conversations what my typical stock would be as well as typical toner coverage on the sheet and expected clicks per month. This isn't my first digital machine, so I know the deal. I'm...

Straight talk about Ricoh Pro c901 registration

Before I leased this machine, I pinned the local Ricoh sales people down on what to expect with front to back registration on 12pt, 111#, C2S cover stock. They stated I could expect .5mm registration front to back. Luckily, for what it's worth, I have this in writing. Shortly after the...

    User's feedback on Ricoh c901 GA+

For what's it's worth, I've been told by Ricoh technicians as well as sales people that the + model has very few changes from an updated c901 model. By updated, I mean hardware fixes across the last few years such as developer units, developer drives, etc.. Aside from an updated RIP, the +...

Do we really need preflight software?

After poking around in Pitstop Pro, I've determined that it does tell me exactly what I was looking for. Because a lot of our clientele are do it yourselfers, they don't pay much attention to what they are doing with ink coverage. The printers that we've been outsourcing our work to have been...

Do we really need preflight software?

We are young and resourceful around here but you are right. What we can't learn from video tutorials, trial and error through actual printing, and message boards will indeed have to be acquired through having someone physically on site to give us the scoop. Luckily this press is being acquired...

Do we really need preflight software?

Thanks Matt. No matter what tools a printer gives a customer to help them create a high quality file, they often fail to use them. We have an extensive library of templates and pages of file setup information on our site that often never gets used. Instead we often get garbage jpegs with...

Do we really need preflight software?

Great info. Thanks for the tips. Am I correct to think that Pitstop is not going to be able to edit an already flattened file that has been converted to pdf. Say, a jpeg to pdf? There is such a sea of information about the program that I'm having trouble finding that little tidbit. A good...

Do we really need preflight software?

The company that I work for is considered a "commodity" style printer. For the last 8 years it has brokered out all of its offset work. Two of the last 8 years we've been running a Xerox 700 into the ground. Almost 1,750,000 clicks and going strong! The company's base of customers...

Another Xerox 700 vs Konica 6501

this really makes me want to reconsider a konica as our second machine. i really need proof positive that the 6501 can at least match the registration that the x700 can do. it really seemed like a more solid machine. its high capacity feeder was leaps and bounds ahead of the x700's.

Toner supply dwindling from Xerox on the x700

usually we get our techs to order toner as a part. not this time. this toner shortage is insane and should seriously make anyone pondering the lease of any xerox product reconsider. we are currently not operating as a result of not having toner. no product going out means no money. no money...

Another Xerox 700 vs Konica 6501

interesting. if the fusers can be changed out by the customer, then the problem is solved. good deal. i sure wish the konica guys here would have dialed in the machine better though in regard to the registration issue. their answer was that its "not an offset press."

Another Xerox 700 vs Konica 6501

when toner is on back order you can see its status by logging into your xerox account. thats about the only evidence xerox will ever give you. whats worse is that when supplies are being ordered you have to specifically ask if a color is on back order. if you don't, the only way you find out...

Another Xerox 700 vs Konica 6501

i demo'd a konica 6501 as well. the print quality seemed to at least parallel the x700's, which is the machine we currently have in house. there are two main issues with the konica that was the deal breaker though. the first issue was with the front to back registration and skew. even...

    Need help choosing CTP

thanks you for your reply on this. the research i have done is giving off the illusion that the new school of poly plates can handle 4 color work under 20,000 impressions without stretching. namely the Mitsubishi Silver DigiPlate. since our shop will be entering the world of offset completely...
