    junior pre-press operator_why?

I just have to laugh...being in the under 30 age group, I fnd it down right insulting for many (not all) of the older people who try to keep the younger people down in any field, when it should be the opposite, considering we all start off wet behind th ears. I also find a big issue when one...

    xerox 700 vs konica c7000

From what I hear tech support is best in bigger cities because, more machines, more revenues in that area, hence, more/better support. Besides all that, I am also looking into the Xerox 700, KM C7000 and the Canon ImageRunner Advance, as I am told these are all comparable. I seen them in...

Which UV Coater for Digital Shop??

I wanted to revive this...I saw both the Tec Lighting's Xtra Coat Mini and Graphic Whizad's XDC Micro. They both look good and great size for digital. The Tec Mini is around $11,500 and the GW Micro is around $11,200. The difference that GW pointed out was that their's is 20 in wide vs Tec's 18"...

    POD quality vs Offset

Also another solution is a b&w printer and a color printer. With a b&w printer you can cut the cost of the click charge vs printing black text pages from a color copier. Problem is you have to organize the pages...oh the pro's and con' of life...

    POD quality vs Offset

Still annoyed at the ridiculous answers of some of the salesmen/women in this forum, as I am also interested in entering the paper printing business, but many people like to just respond without concern for the person posting. That said...I am in the screen printing business, and from what I...

i don't think i'm supposed to ask this...

I know Xerox lists their MSRP in their news releases for each/most of their presses. Usually the base price is cheaper, but factor in a $20,000 RIP an the price is upped. This is if you buy it cash money. But if you lease it's another story because it depends...and also your credit might come...

I'm having trouble deciding myself what digital workflow I'm going to use. I plan on buying possibly 1 to 2 xerox dc5000s. What I HATE is how people feel they need to comment on a product THEY DONT EVEN OWN! Lots of hear say going on in this forum. With that being said I also find it hard to...

    Xerox 5000 AP help..

thnx again guys...see Josh that is my issue...the sales rep says one thing, the company specs says another...in this case the specs says "Auto-duplexes up to 110 lb. cover (300 gsm)"...so why the heck wont it do 14pt, 293 gsm, according to the rep? Xerox 5000 AP help..

Thanks for the responses. Mohawk makes a C2S 14pt @ 293 gsm. So you are saying on the AP dupexing at that weight would be an issue? Can I just run it through twice and register with decent results? I want to cut down their sheets to 12.5 x 19 to get full bleed, which I believe is its max size. I...

    Xerox 5000 AP help..

Hello. I'm in the process of making a move into buying a digital press. From what I read the DC5000AP can handle up to 300gsm, and also 14pt C2S in the gsm limits.. but when I asked the local sales rep if these can be handles he said only up to 12pt. This is critical to my purchasing decision...
