    Ricoh Tech Conversation Today...

I am hoping he will do more when he gets here tomorrow and replace the motherboard. Not sure if it has a Fiery board. Some of the times it crashes while just sitting idle or we will find it crashed when we come to work in the morning. It will also sometimes get EXTREMELY slow when setting the...

    Ricoh Tech Conversation Today...

One of our 7200s has been having Fiery issues for over a month. Our tech replaced the HD and reloaded the software, but it is still having the Fiery Server software crashing at least every other day and it sometimes has the top display go black and just won't respond to any inputs. I called in...

    Sirocco or Venetian finish sheets...

We have some cartons on the shelf that have been there for a while. We used to use them all the time for regular customers who liked the finish, but the customers dried up and the paper companies we bought it from are no longer around. Does anyone know off hand where you can get this paper...

    Ink Appearance Iridesse vs Ricoh

That sounds about right. The toner I keep seeing looks like it hasn't been cooked enough and is still dull and powdery looking. Maybe they are laying down too much without enough heat.

    Ink Appearance Iridesse vs Ricoh

Every so often we get mailings or samples that were printed by a print shop about an hour away from us who is running a Xerox Iridesse. Being in a small town, there is a lot of talk about who installs what and it was the first in the area. The solid blacks on it looks noticeably worse than the...

    New Ricoh Pro C9500

Yeah, we were always tweaking the image position on our Versant, but the Ricoh's rarely need it. So much time saved.

    New Ricoh Pro c7500 launches

We frequently run 20pt plastic through our 72xx machines. I am not sure of the gsm, but it handles it well.

    Hohner Stitcher Repairs...

We have tried many spools and wire sizes. We only run into issues on thicker books. It appears to be an issue with the wire feed. I think the wire drive wheel is worn and isn't applying enough pressure to feed the wire through the paper reliably.

Why Would Anyone Want to go to a Print Shop?

Oddly enough, our Top 10 customers who make up about 70% of our sales are all adamant about sending files via email. Years ago we set up a custom storefront for them to order through on our website. They all said they preferred emailing and bringing the files in. The reason for that is speed...

    Hohner Stitcher Repairs...

We have an old Hohner Favorit stitcher that is giving us issues when stitching books over half an inch thick. About every third staple is screwed up. We had a repairman work on it and ever since it hasn't acted right. Does anyone have any recommendations for the service of such an old machine...

    Wanna Share Your Quote???

I tend to take our cutters for granted. I just kept thinking that anyone with a digital press could run this for the same cost without thinking about the finishing and YES it has 4 edge bleeds.

    Wanna Share Your Quote???

LOL We just run them through our Ricoh and do all the cutting on our regular cutter.

I have a little job we bid and print every year for a non-profit and it is pretty much the only job they give us even though we are 3 blocks down the street. I suspect that we are pricing system isn't charging what the market will bear. 300 Copies 80# Dull Cover 12" x 36" The price we charge...

    Contracts...

Maybe I am a conspiracy theorist then, because my first thought was that this was that this was about making sure we were under their thumb. They don't want to deal with anyone they aren't in complete control of. Kinda like the mob in the old days. If you want to be successful and work in this...

    Contracts...

We have been dealing with our 4th largest client for over ten years, but over the last year, they have started sending us a lot more work that was previously going out of state. They have become our largest client and they pay when they order. We enjoy working with them and the people we deal...

    QuarkXpress...

Ahhh yes. We stumbled upon a copy of that back in the day and played with it a little. If memory serves it was geared more towards books. My cousin worked at TWA and they had given him a few copies of it for some reason and we installed one, but never did more than play around with it. I...

    QuarkXpress...

We started out with QuarkXpress, Illustrator, and Colorstudio. I remember Photoshop being a cheaper alternative to Colorstudio that some of our clients would use. I spent many hours after school and in the evenings scanning, color correcting, and creating artwork in Colorstudio.

    Versant 4100 Vs Ricoh 7210

Ricoh 9210 and printing Nakoosa Synaps 14mil issues

Just throwing this out there. We recently started having regular jams after the cooling belt and found that the soft rubber transfer rollers just after the cooling belt were literally falling apart and had reduced in size enough to not be pulling the sheet through. After fixing this, no more...

    Versant 4100 Vs Ricoh 7210

Experiences like this really leave me scratching my head. Our 7210s have been able to print on virtually anything we throw at them except Tyvek. We just finished a 10,000 run of 24pt Tango C1S and the registration was perfect for something that is thicker than the machine is specced to run. We...
