Acrobat Dot Gain 30 Conversion is Changing 100K black to 84K

Can someone explain why "Display All Blacks Accurately" and "Output All Blacks Accurately" aren't the DEFAULT "Appearance of Black" settings in both InDesign and Illustrator? They are essential preferences for correct output and printing.

    Can you explain this cartoon?

There is a website dedicated to "Comics I Don't Understand" that has been up and running for over 20 years. People are invited to send in "CIDU" cartoons and others can try to explain them. https://godaddyandthesquirrelmustbothdie.wordpress.com

    The Problem Files

Seriously, if it is going to take time and trouble to TELL someone HOW TO fix their files, I’d just as soon do it myself. That’s my philosophy and I’m sticking to it.

Consultants of the past to advise for the future?

Back in the 1960s, there was a commercial for a local product I cannot remember. But I do remember the tagline: “Being Smart is knowing what you’re Dumb at.” It has been my guiding principle ever since.

Running Prinect 2016 on Mac OS Sierra?

I finally had to wait a few days before our installation of Prinect 2017 and SignaStation before upgrading everyone in Prepress to Mac OS Sierra. Before that some of us used Adobe CC 2017 on Sierra and others used the older CC 2015 on Mac OS Mavericks. As Zoran wrote, Prinect 2017 runs fine on...

Working speed comparisons inDesign CC2015-2017 - Quark 2016-2017

I have a Mac Pro tower (mid-2010) with 20 GB of RAM, running El Capitan. Last year, InDesign CC2015 was extremely slow starting and the dreaded "beach ball" appeared often at random while working on documents. A friend had been after me for years to install an SSD drive as the bootup disk. I...

Thanks MWC, but OS X El Capitan is only available from Apple to Snow Leopard users who need to upgrade.

Running Prinect 2016 on Mac OS Sierra?

We need to upgrade two Macs from Mac OS X Mavericks to Mac OS Sierra in order to use the Adobe Creative Cloud 2017. Heidelberg told us that Prinect 2016 Cockpit and Signastation do not support Mac OS Sierra. Are there any rebels out there running Prinect 2016 on Mac OS Sierra? If so, do you...

    Neon colours on grey

Ditto what MacTwidget says. We have gotten excellent results by printing both process colors and spot inks over Opaque White. We print vinyl record jackets on different substrates, including metallic and holographic stocks, and the results have often been stunning.

    Imac or Mac Pro?

I just took a 2008 iMac in for repair that also had the weird "cloud pattern" thing going on with the display. The authorized Apple dealer wanted $500 to replace the LCD. Since it was not a prepress unit and it was showings its age, we bought a new Mac Mini instead; I have spare LCD monitors to...
