Accurio Pro Flux integration with Duplo DC 646

Hi there.

Just scored myself an old DC 646. Being a private purchase pretty up to myself to workout the setup. I'm running flux on my Konica 4070. I'm guessing I can make myself some basic Pdf templates?. (just wanting to do some basic cutting at this stage e.g. x21 business cards, x6 up DLs etc..
I'll sort out perfing, creasing etc later).

Ancient. (Windows 7), should I update this later?.
I would probably need to upgrade the PC it came with if I go to anything to recent. (I don't want to do this just yet as its just on loan from the dealer until I have decided I'm happy with it)

Not sure if it will be useful? but the previous owner has left quite a few files on the machine.

Any thoughts before I try my first job.

thanks. Simon

Good score for you. Dont go crazy on the computer. Just a basic windows 10 will do the job. You can build programs and go right over the ones they had so in time they will be all yours. When setting up jobs keep in mind GUTTER cuts should be 5mm CUTTER cuts can be 3mm. business cards run landscape usually 3 wide 7,8,9 long. Its a great machine with tons of options. Remember its a machine you can lie/cheat to get around some set up issues.
Perfing I find doing it on the machine easier than the computer. It talks so what you do on the machine will automatically go onto the computer and vice versa. Creasing is in the main setting up program where you enter cuts, slits.
Hopefully you have the books and software. Its easy to ues.

Hi Dennis. Thanks for this advice. I'll need to see what I can track down regarding manuals and software. The staples you sent me are working out well. (Please let me know it you come across anymore). If anyone reading this post finds out if "Duplo" resolved their issue regarding their snail cassette staples (DBM -120) I'd be very interested to know. ta Simon

All of our Konica's have KM controllers and we use the Flux software as well. Once you do an imposition in Flux, you can save those settings as a preset and make it a hot folder, similar to Fiery/Command Workstation. I setup hot folders that automatically impose business cards to match the templates on our AeroCut slitter/cutter/creaser - it would be the same process for your Duplo. I even set it to automatically select the paper and put it in the hold queue so we can just release it at the machine when we're ready.

thanks for this info. You make it sound easy:) heres hoping.

I've been running the Duplo control panel software on Windows 10 mostly without issue. The software stack is ancient and uses RS232 (think old school serial ports) emulation over USB, so if you are running other RS232 emulators for another product on the same PC, you might have issues with connectivity. I'm happy to share the software installer and manuals if you still need them.

A few of sources of frustration for me with the DC646-
1- the feeder double feeds a lot with some medias, particularly textured media
2- really narrow bleed trim like 2mm on the outside edge will get wound around the slitters and be a pain to fish out with tweezers
3- the guillotine blade is expensive to replace at $1800 USD when it gets dull
4- having heavy toner coverage on one side of a sheet and little or no toner coverage on the other side can cause the paper to skew if the toner side is up

That being said, this machine has been a big time and money saver for the past 6 years.
