Acrobat X and Pitstop Pro

Hi all.

I have a question.

First what's happening: We've moved from a micropress that handled both my color and b/w machines to a Creo that handles our new color KMC6501 and just the interface on the b/w KM1050.

We're going to get Acrobat X and Pitstop Pro. I'm asking for two copies, one for the computer in the copy center where the machines are and one for my computer at my desk so I can work in peace on larger jobs.

My company is balking at the price, mostly the price of purchasing two Pitstop Pros.

So my questions are these:

1. Do I need two copies of Pitstop Pro when the specs read "PitStop Workgroup Manager for multi-user environment: PitStop Pro 10 comes with a Workgroup Manager for floating volume licenses, which enables you to centrally manage and standardize presets in multi-user environments.”? What does this mean, that purchasing two copies is not really necessary?

2. Doubting that anyone else in my area could comprehend Acrobat, let alone Pitstop Pro while I'm on vacation, do I need to even put Pitstop Pro on the computer in the copy center?

3. Will having one copy of each on each machine be beneficial beyond what I'm wanting - i.e. is there any issues out there that I'm missing with only having one copy of each on the central copy center computer?

4. Will workflow be lessened by having the software on only one machine?

I'm kind of thinking along the lines of having Acrobat on both machines and Pitstop just on my computer since I seriously doubt that my backups will be able to use and understand it.

Any suggestions, information, insight, etc. would really help me out now as I'm being asked if we really need two copies of each. Please help me out here...

Thanks a bunch,
CathieH

Do you need two copies? I don't know, only you can answer that. It sounds like you may not want two. You can always buy another copy later... It maybe an advantage to have PitStop out on the floor while you're not out or busy with something else. You don't qualify for Work Group Manager, you need a volume or floating license for that.

You may be surprised at how useful another copy could be to those people out on the floor. All of the questions are completely subjective and dependent on your environment. As a reseller I should tell you two copies, but really it's up to you. Start with one and see how it goes...

On the other hand, if you don't get two copies up front while they are buying you may never get the second one. Been down that road. If you need to do work on both computers then you will need two copies.
