Adobe RIP Processor speed (Avg)

There is no simple answer to your question. Why?

(1) Adobe doesn't sell RIPs directly to end users. It sells both Adobe PostScript 3 and Adobe PDF Print Engine technology via OEMs such as Xerox, Kodak, Canon, Agfa, Heidelberg, EFI, etc.

(2) Each of Adobe's OEMs configures the technology to suit the needs of the device it is serving. That means different hardware configurations depending upon OEM and particular product.

(3) Some OEMs allow for multiple processors and RIPs feeding a single digital printer. The performance characteristics are really dependent upon how the OEM configures the RIPs (CPU speed, memory, disk, etc.).

Bottom line is that your question really can't be answered unless you specify a particular product from a particular vendor and then, you would need an expert on that product to give you a response based on the characteristics of your job. PDF files that are simple text RIP very quickly compared to jobs with graphically-rich pages with many transparency effects. And even with graphically rich pages, PDF/VT jobs in which PDF XOjbects are used to optimize file size and RIP performance RIP dramatically faster that equivalent jobs for which the PDF is not optimized. MB/s is a meaningless measure in this regard.
