Heard on the grapevine that Agfa are to cease supply of the LAP - R plate in 6 months time - where will that leave existing customers? Will they be forced to buy new equipment they dont currently need to? Anyone shed any light on this?
Cheers

Cliff.

Sorry for the delayed response;
I wanted to check-up on some background details before responding.

First of all, Lithostar in general is not being discontinued.
In fact, Lithostar Violet (LAP-V) remains mainstream, hence it is one of our best selling plates.
So too is our "green" (532nm) plate LAP-O.

However, as with the earlier LAP-B (Blue), our LAP-R version for red laser diode imagers
is coming to a natural end of its lifecycle, due to dwindling lack of demand. Agfa has worked
closely with its distribution channels, and accordingly, we saw a big spike in orders to cover a
planned phase-out, which is being addressed by our partners in the field.

As typically the small population of red imagers in the field are second-and third-hand,
our exploration into a possible field laser diode upgrade to violet proved to be more
costly than the available population of used and new imagers, like our Palladio (violet).

Please work with your local distributor, as no doubt they have planned in advance
to meet your transitional need as the product phases-out.
