Any advice on tabletop or small-sized scoring equipment?

You might want to locate an equipment dealer in your area and dicuss a product called DG Creaser. It is available via Heidelberg or Baumfolder. It can score or perf depending on what you need it to do. It can do multiple parallel scores or perfs in the same pass.

How much quantities are we talking here (monthly volume, run sizes, etc)?

Starting with just a few hundred...maybe 400 per month...at the beginning if that will bring the price down. Manual is fine. Largest flat sheet about 10x7 to be scored for even fold to 5 x 7 (A-7 roughly).

If you have a cutter with a non-hydraulic foot operated clamp, I have a solution that will blow your mind.

Otherwise, you should look into a "manual" scorer. I just googled manual scoring machine and this is the first thing that came up:

I bet if you type that same thing into ebay you can find some for ~3-400
