Basys UV Setter

I posted this before and got no responses.
Let me try and word it better.
We have two basys UV plate setters.
I am new to this type of system, even though it is old technology.
I put a mark on the plates and used a plate scope to see what kind of gain we where getting. Well as I suspected we are off the chart. I then went to the manual to see what kind of adjustments we could make, possibly writing a curve???
The manual is really no help.

My question is what can if anything can be done?

Thanks
Chuck

What kind of "mark" did you make on the plates?
What kind of "plate scope" are you using?

Here is a better explanation of what we have tried and what we are running into..Any help would be appreciated.
We used a step wedge in the burned in the bend, Values 1,2,3,4,5,10,20,25,up to 100%.
Registration Color, 150 line screen, conventional.

When we lower the exposure to keep the dots open we get banding. When we increase the exposure to eliminate the banding the screens plug up really bad.

We are reading the wedge with a Xrite Plate Scope Model XRD60.

Thanks,
Chuck

Have you tried using plate exposure to get a good banding free image on the plate and then used plate curves to get the tonality on the plate correct?
