Cannot get uncoated side of C1S to run through our Ricoh to save my life

Hoping someone might have some insight on this. We have a Ricoh c7100, I can run the coated side of ~16pt C1S all day long without issue, but the uncoated side immediately pulls 2~3 sheets and misfeeds constantly.

I've tried everything I can think of. Anti-static tinsel and spray. Winding the shit out of it. Basically every paper setting possible (coated, uncoated, preprinted, etc). I don't understand. Heavy uncoated cover is no problem, heavy coated cover is no problem, but C1S is just a nightmare if it isn't 4/0 and one of our clients insists on it.

Worth noting that I'm a substitute digital press operator in recent months and do not have long term experience with this, so entirely possible there is a specific setting or strategy for it that I'm just unfamiliar with.

Providing it is not a set, you should be able to change the Output Delivery setting to print the side you want on the uncoated side and feed it with coated side up.

Is that actually possible for non-duplex printing? We have to run these one side at a time as the 16pt is too heavy for duplexing. If so, that could potentially work.

I didn't realize that you could not duplex the sheet. No I don't think that would be possible then. If you print the uncoated side first you still have problems?

If using a Custom Paper Setting…
Change Advanced Settings > Scroll to page 7
124 = Active
118 = PU Assist Off
126 = Max Dble Feed Reduc. (Lowest)
If using a manual paper setting you can’t do this.

I know what you are talking about, we have had the same issue with our 7110, it will only feed one way. We only go up to 12pt C1S on the 7110 so we can duplex. We throw the heavier stuff on the 7200 since it will duplex it.

my 7210 runs it either way and duplexes 16pt every day. What drawer are you using and what finisher do you have?
4th drawer; it won't even make it past U/section right past the feeder without pulling several sheets at once so finisher isn't a factor.

I will give it a try, thanks!

c1s usually curl on the uncoated side, so the coated side curls down and the uncoated side curls up, you need to lower the feed height on the uncoated side. make 2 different paper profiles for each side.

We run 18 and 24pt C1S. The 24pt is finicky and only run occasionally, but we run the 18pt regularly without any issues even when DUPLEXING. Just make sure it is short grain.

For an update and for anyone else who might have the same issue in the future - These settings + changing the paper feed height to Low and we were able to run the uncoated side no problem. Thanks again!

Which machine are you running the 24pt on? And which paper? I would love to try this, always looking to run thicker paper.
