Cannot Recommend Gluntz and Jensen

I'm not bashing a product, but if I can save another printer from going through what we are having to deal with, I will.
We purchased a new Gluntz and Jensen 2500 Plate Writer, the install went flawless, the machine operated great. Most of the problems we had was our learning curve as we went from old school (light table and negs) to this. We noticed a few things but nothing earth shattering. 6 months later the machine goes down, it had a problem they knew about, it took them a while to schedule an appointment, for service.. well they waited a bit too long. It was down for two days, luckily we were still operating old school. The one job we needed to replate the pressman was able to work around the bad plate he had. Now that our learning curve is up to speed, we are experiencing problems that they do not know how to solve.. as a result we are running a machine that operates fine for 3 plates, but has to be shut down and restarted every cycle and every day. This has been going on for several weeks, no one seems to be concerned. I went from a very happy customer to a person that would not recommend this product or the manufacturer.. its a shame.

What made you choose this machine over another 2-up option? What other machines did you consider?
We currently run a Ripit/Xante speedsetter but are looking at a different/refurb. machine due to issues.

The main requirement that was the biggest barrier to overcome was we have to run metal, poly just won't work on our presses. Secondary to that came of course price. In the mix we also had to consider speed as well. I looked at a Tango, cheap but slow, and I'd have to find a way to apply gum. I can't remember the other machine but it too was slow. The G&J outputs a plate in 5-6 min which is livable. To date, they did manage to get out here for one service call, however none of the problems we are having have been solved. Sorry to hear about your experience with Xante... also sorry to say I'm not surprised... we made the mistake of purchasing a film maker 4.

The problem that we have had since October is still going on. The engineers are "looking into it" So we've had a machine that has not been correct since Oct.
