Hello,

We still do filmoutput and have a clients that for years always make their vector
file as Registration color, when we go to output just the black have been getting
"the pages selected to print do not contain any inks that will produce plates"

any suggestions besides just make it 100% black and 0 on other colors!

Nope, that's the solution. If you have a file with only 'Registration' color you don't technically have a black separation.

The message you are getting is from InDesign's print function. Are you creating film via PostScript or via exporting PDF. Modern workflows (including what remains of film) should be done via PDF export direct from InDesign.

Thank you very much for replies - Creating film via PostScript. Do you know if I Make one of the CMY values will it generate the black plate?

Add a tiny dot somewhere on the page in black, can even be a 1% screen of black, then output the black separation, you should then get all elements that are in registration colour on the black plate.
