We have an HP5000 and are trying the polyester plates. We are running it on a Chief 17. On the first trial, the back ground was pink (we were using red ink). There could be a couple of reasons we're thinking, but if anyone knows we would love the advice.
Could be the pressure (it's set for metal plates)
Could be the ink (used some high speed ink, someone gave us)
Water amount off?
Or I suppose the plate, but i don't want to hear that.

Thanks for the thoughts. We're slowly moving our shop along to start a small business soon. Have a nice 18" electric cutter now. I have to get my stuff out of the closet so the spare bedroom will completely be the shop and not my storage.

I would start by making sure your work area / machine all the parts etc are as clean as can be, we have loads of problems in the past just by using a dirty part.

After that your list looks correct probably the plates
