Hey guys, I have a Compose Express RIP version 5.5 driving an old Screen Imagesetter. For a reason I don't understand demand in film as ben growing and we use it a lot more then we use to. Anyhow, this RIP ben acting up lately giving us ERROR IN CONFIG FILE and once in a while it will just crash.

Its not a big issue, just a big annoyance.

Thanks for the help guys.

ERROR IN CONFIG often means the RIP software or computer USB or parallel port cannot read the dongle. When you startup the RIP the software reads the dongle and it checks throughout running that the dongle is in place and connected to the computer. It sounds like your computer has either a bad connection to the dongle or the dongle may be starting to fail. Contact your original manufacturer of the RIP to try and get this resolved.

ERROR IN CONFIG can also be caused by software related issues with the RIP or RIP folder itself. One way to completely test to see whether it is your dongle, the RIP folder or the computer's connection to the dongle is to install the software on another computer. Just install the RIP and install the dongle driver. Then reboot and plug the dongle into the other computer. Test to see if the RIP will stay running without the error, if it will then your problem is more than likely the old RIP folder or the computer's connection to the dongle.
