About half (48%) of US adults prefer to get coupons in the mail, a figure that has risen in each of the past 2 years, according to a Valassis survey of 1,000 adults. There’s also been upward movement from those who prefer coupons from a coupon book, up from 37% last year to 42% this year. In both cases adults are displaying a preference for paper coupons over paperless discounts.

Consumer preference for paper coupons is reflected in their high usage:
  • 91% use coupons received in the mail (+ 86%);
  • 89% use coupons found in a store (+ 85%);
  • 85% use coupons from newspapers (+ 82%); and
  • 80% print coupons from their computer (+ 79%).
Other highlights from the study:
  • 94% of those surveyed reported using coupons, and about 1/2 of those said they use them always (15%) or very often (30%);
  • The % of Millennials using coupons has grown 9 points since 2016.
The full report, which contains many more findings, is available to download here.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever seen a report, survey, or white paper produced by any company, wherein the resulting statistics did not reflect favorably on the products or services that they sell?
