We are a manufacturer of printed cartons and currently when we are producing these with varnish free areas we us a cyrel plate to omit some sections , typically on glue flaps etc and also where the customer wants to print lot or batch reference numbrs on thier lines but what other options are out there for me to use ?
Anyone any suggestions ?
thanks in advance

Re: Cyrel Plates

There are other photopolymer plate manufacturers, some are water washout that you can make yourself. Verify with the manufacturer that the plate material will not be damaged by the ink/varnish/washup materials you are using.
As for alternatives to the process, I don't have any improved suggestions.

Re: Cyrel Plates

Look at the Gerber Sector. A plotter looking unit that uses a plate from OEC graphics.
We've just installed one and for the majority of our UVing will work fine. Some finer detail
work we may have to send a file to OEC for a one day turn around on a Cyrel plate.
It will plot and cut type but you'll have to dig out the center of letters as a O. The letter or file
would have to have some weight to it also.
