Job purpose


Responsible for processing of customer database files into a format which meets customer specifications and USPS regulations. Serve as in-house expert on DMM and USPS regulations. Position the Mailing Department to be a vital, value-added service line for our customers. Focus on superior quality in all regards to create top notch service.


Duties and responsibilities


• Process and prepare all data files for production.
• Pre-flight all data files within four (4) hours of receipt.
• Provide piece count & postage amounts to CSRs for every mailing job in a timely manner.
• Check files for conformity to supplied layouts and mail pieces for conformity to USPS regulations. Prepare proper documentation, including mock-ups and layout information.
• Serve as postal regulations resource for CSRs, account managers, and customers when requested. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of postal regulations. Work closely with USPS representative on regulation issues.
• Serve as in-house expert on mail piece design. Consult with internal and external customers in this regard.
• Regularly update postal software to meet all changes, revisions and requirements made by the USPS.
• Maintain data files for inkjet and variable data printing jobs.
• Advise inkjet production personnel regarding data set up.
• Maintain good customer relations. Deal with internal and external customers with tact and resourcefulness.
• Create postage statements, both hard-copy and electronic versions (BCC Mail Manager) and distribute accordingly.
• Run NCOA and provide excel reports to customers.
• Contact USPS to verify customer permit numbers and postage balances.
• Ship international mail to International Mail Service. Ship qualifying flats to UPS Mail Innovations.
• Responsible for final Quality check – compare job specifications with final product and assure compliance with USPS regulations.
• Assist machine operators, hand assemblers when necessary to meet scheduling deadlines.
• Use Logic system consistently and accurately to record production times and status codes.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma; College degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Specialized knowledge: Proficient in database file structure. Must have experience creating database queries. Knowledge of USPS Cass/PAVE software desired.


Knowledge of USPS regulations


Experience: Two to five years


Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents (such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals) and to speak effectively to other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills: Able to meet basic math skills such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide


Other Abilities: Proficiency in software applications such as Word, Excel, Access, etc. Desired: Knowledge of FusionPro, Printshop Mail, XMPie, Planet Press, Design Merge, (VDP software apps, etc.)

Working conditions


Binderies are often noisy and jobs can be fairly strenuous, requiring lifting, standing, and carrying. They may also require stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Binding often resembles an assembly line where workers perform repetitive tasks.
Hand bindery employees are considered for the following employment: Part-time or Temporary. Scheduling is dependent upon nature of work and manning necessary.
Linemark is an around the clock operation and coordinates scheduling of hand bindery workers within each shift as needed.
Under supervision, weekend and holiday work may be scheduled.


Physical requirements


Sitting: Up to one-half hour a day, during an eight-hour shift. Standing: Up to eight hours, during an eight-hour shift. Walking: Within business – to and from LPI Departments. Bending, stooping, twisting of the trunk, and reaching: Up to eight hours a day, during an eight-hour shift. Lifting, pushing and/or pulling: Up to 50 pounds.
Special considerations: Any material weighing over 50 pounds is not required by LPI to be lifted or carried by the individual. It is the individual’s responsibility to request assistance regarding the lifting or carrying of heavier material.
