difference between ctp platesetter and processor

The platesetter burns the image on a plate with a laser, the processor develops the plate with chemicals... So two different machines used in sequence.

Often the two machines are connected so that the plate first gets burned and then automatically moves into the processor for development.

Hey thank you for replying:)...so are both d machines integrated in a single unit or sold separately?...also could u pls suggest some of the reputable manufacturers for it

You can purchase the units individual or together. You don't necessarily need a processor with a ctp system if you run chem free plates. Simply image the plate on your ctp and develope it on your press. We run fuji chem free and have great success.

so is it advisable to invest in a violet ctp machine?...I have done some research and have found out that although most printers in my area have been using thermal plates until now they are not reluctant to switch to violet plates if they get the same results...I have been told that both thermal and violet have the same result upto 250 lpi which is much higher than what majority of printers here require

Your requests are should I say unrealistic and impractical. Do you expect to obtain a thread with 200+ posts everybody sharing his opinion on such a subject ? Spend some time and search this very forum for thermal to violet comparison, it's been long discussed already. As for the difference between a plate processor and a platesetter please do your homework. Start reading brochures and machine specs from major manufacturers first for God's sake.
