I've just encountered a major issue with discretionary hyphens in Quark 9.
A book interior, that was originally set in Q4, needed to be edited for an upcoming reprint. When opened in Q9, many of the discretionary hyphens that were added to the front of a word were changed into actual printed hyphens. This would occur with any word that was the first word in a line of text. The printed hyphen would appear at the end of the line of text directly above the word with the discretionary hyphen.
I did some poking around and discovered that there were some changes made to discretionary hyphens in Q6 and Q7.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this rather major issue? For this project, I went through, with invisibles on, and removed the discretionary hyphens that were presenting problems, but certainly that is not a proper solution in a fast-paced workflow.
Side note, I also posted this in the Quark forum board.
