For sale in Fairfax, Virginia: Duplo DPB-500 EVA Perfect Binder. 220V / 3 Phase / 20A. S/N 080100184 (2008 model). Meter reads 205,407 bound books through the unit (around 100,000 of those were from our ownership).
Asking $4000 for local pickup only. I'd encourage bringing a pallet jack (ideally electric) and a box truck with a liftgate, moving blankets, and strap tiedowns -- approximate dimensions of the machine (rounded upward) are 9ft Long x 4ft Wide x 5ft Tall. I'd say it's around 600 lbs.
Machine cycled perfectly fine prior to disconnecting and was restored with a new Main Board, new Driver Board, new Clamp bearings, a new Glue Drum bearing, a new Tank Heating Element, and multiple replaced Sensors in the first half of 2024. New Clamp Drive motor also included but currently not installed on the unit. I'd say you can successfully run 200 - 300 books an hour on the unit depending on your preferred amount of glue nipping time. I always priced things at 220 books per hour with 15 minutes of setup between production runs.
Requires a replacement Mitsubishi Graphic Operation Terminal screen for full functionality of the touchscreen - part GT1150-QLBD. It looks like they're available on eBay and should also be available directly from Duplo. In the meantime, the panel still responds to touch but just has a burnt out array on the leftmost edge of the screen.
Includes approximately 30 lbs. of Spiel & Associates hot-melt iGlue, Wing Scoring attachment, Dust Collection Vacuum, various spare parts, a Compact Flash drive with the latest firmware, and Service/Parts/Operator manuals. Was used successfully for four years in our shop on hundreds of projects between 1 and 2500 quantity lengths before being upgraded for a slightly faster/smaller unit. It really is a great machine -- I just don't have the room for two perfect binders and I had our new perfect binder on backorder while this Duplo unit was under its most recent round of repairs.
Photos attached and a walkthrough video can be found from late June 2024 around a week before being disconnected and moved to storage at the following OneDrive link -> VID_20240628_164051630.mp4. Please note this happened right before the panel lost a light array.
Serviced by JDL & Associates during my time with the machine. Any authorized Duplo technician should be able to work on it for parts and repairs, but it's pretty easy to perform basic maintenance on and it has a TON of operator adjustments available for fine tuning your flavor of perfect binding.
Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you!
