final decision help

first of all, I would like to say a big thank you to all of you who helped me to learn more about digital printing. I've finally got a quote from both Konica Minolta and Xerox. Now I need to make a decision.

What is the main reason of buying this machine: making booklets (color and B&W). I also want to be able to do alot more.
What will be the average clic per month: around 40k and 65k
What are the options:
-Konica Milolta C6501 + PF-602 Paper Feed Unit + FS-607 Booklet Finisher
-Xerox 700 + Oversized High Capacity Feeder (one drawer) + Professional Finisher

Price of equipment, service and price per clic are the same.

What would be the ''best buy'' between those two option? Both have Pros that the other one don't have. I just want to get an opinion from users here.

Thanks for your help.

Either way you go we have you covered on the UV side.

Hi
What did you decide on? have you decided?

I have been going through the same process. Konica have another machine the c65hc and so far I have seen a much better quality coming from this machine than both the machines you are looking at. Although a bit more expensive. One test I do is to get supplier to print a range of colours. ie Blue all over one page to see how even it is. Green's oranges are a struggle for pretty much any cmyk but worth going through the process anyway. Xerox tend to have a real washy look to it. All machine's look great when they show you pretty pictures.

I'm still waiting for advise from members here.

I've never check the c65hc, but I'll check it out. Thanks.

I think you will find that the actual print quality is no different on the 65hc to the 6501. They are essentially the same machine. The only difference is that the 65hc uses high chroma toner allowing it to reproduce a larger amount of the rgb colour gamut. If you need to print a lot of rgb then the 65hc is the machine for you, otherwise I can't see the point in buying one over a 6501.

All things being equal on the tech side between the 2 machines you should take a look at 2 things:

1. How easily does the RIP/Printer integrate with variable print streams for future needs?

2. How is the service? How will they respond to your needs?

At this stage in the digital game they all print well and as you said, they have their pros and cons. The real distinction is how will they respond to "you" at the local level when you really need it.

We had iGens at my last company and the service tech would show up within an hour and wouldn't leave until he had either solved the problem or exhausted all options. We switched to Indigo and we experienced almost the complete opposite, longer response times and fewer results during the first response.

I would recommend that you have a long conversation about service with each vendor

I had to go with KM over Xerox in your same situation because my previous experience with Xerox Capital service was ummmm... in the nicest way "crap"

Look at my thread titled Xerox Capital Service to see what you have to deal with.

Thank you to show me your topic. But in my case, I will buy the machine and will not pass it with Xerox capital. I go strait with my bank.

Also, my xerox rep is my neighbour (4 houses away). So if something happen, I know where to find him. I already told him if I had any problem I will wait for him on his porch.
