Thanks Alu, yeah, my bad. this was a tacky thread.
We've just been really slow, and my intention was to satisfy some curiosity about other printing companies possibly being slow. I'm obviously spending too much time on this forum. lol

tacky!
And assuming you're being paid by the hour.. wouldn't the owner prefer you be sweeping the floors and tidying up stock?

We are very very busy. The pressroom has been working 7 days a week. Prepress works overtime almost everyday. The main bindery operator worked over 25 hours overtime last week.
Last year was our best year ever. I still seem to find time for PrintPlanet!

I don't think so that other printing companies possibly being slow. Everyone getting business and share depending on techniques and strategies. You may also enhance your business performance with latest techniques and style to run your business.

Very patchey, Just when I get a busy patch ( never lasts more than 3-4 weeks ) it's like someone turns the tap off. Quite for 1-2 weeks. But I'm a very small print shop.

As I temp for different printshops the one thing I see is that printshops who do not have salesman suffer slow periods often and are slowly going downhill and printshops that do have salesmen are always busier and ever expanding, but at different rates depending upon the size of the sales force.

That depends greatly on the sales force. I had one of ours tell me not too long ago that he was "Happy with his number of clients and not actively seeking any more" because, it seemed to me, he just didn't want to work any harder. Don't most of them work on commission? Maybe he's got a rich wife, I was dumbfounded by that mentality however.

7 days a week 24 hours a day and outsourcing about 200m sheets per month. We are always busy. The work is out there, it's all in what you do and how you do it.

Edit- our sales force does not work off commission.
