How to explain "overprint" to dumb clients?

I typically explain it like ink that is like a varnish or a laminate - it covers what is under it, and as ink is translucent, some show through. When Adobe and Agfa began working on implementing IRT ( In Rip Trapping ) it was important for people to "believe it would work" - so, lots of internal presentation ( to the sales and support team ) as well as to customers. Adobe had Lydia Varmazis spearhad the creation of an IRT document that had great graphics.

I created an internal presentation on how trapping and "ink types" effected how things trap...
