How to price banners

Hi,

I came up with my formula by creating a 12x12" file of pure black. This would trick the rip into telling me what the worst case scenario for ink usage would be. My RIP (Onyx ProductionHouse) tells me my ink cost and i add that to the media cost per SQF. Then i round up and double it.
That takes care of the media waste. When i quote, i take into account the time involved in cutting and prepping and i add that to the price.

I hope that helps.

Cheaper is not always better. I have gone that route many times and more often then not i have been disappointed. Sometimes there is no substitute for the real thing.
Especially when a client specs a particular media, substitutions can get you into hot water.
