ICC Profile

Hi Sometimes we encounter PDFs/Artwork that has ICC Profile: NONE. But is made up from CMYK values ----- we know this from using acrobat pitstop/enfocus.

On our Fiery/CWS Properties. What would be the 'best settings for this?

Source: Bypass Conversion/Colorwise OFF/Default -Fogra39?????

In the past we have enabled the APPE and set source to Bypass Conversion.

When we know a PDF artwork has a ICC profile that is listed on the Fiery we select that as source - is this correct? E.G. if a PDF has a profile of Fogra27, we set the source to match.

Also is it wise to Setup an output profile for the paper as well??

Still learning!!

Many, many thanks!!

Ideally, you profile each paper, assign that profile to its Paper Catalogue entry, and set 'Use media defined profile' as the output profile. For untagged PDFs, setting FOGRA39 as the source is probably your safest bet.

Turning Colorwise off or bypassing conversion is rarely a good idea. The customer's intended colours are unlikely to be anywhere near what the printer produces unadjusted.

Ok, thanks for your reply!!

Yes Didn't think using colorwise off or Bypass Conversion was the ideal way to go!
