Icg Used or The Aztek

I am curious as to what people think about going with a brand new Aztek drum scanner Aztek, Inc. Professional Digital Imaging Sytems, Scanners and Software Solutions or going with a used icg 380 Polygongrafix - 380.html Any idea which one is the better of the two. I looked at tango drum scanners but I prefer to go with a something that still can be serviced. ICG is serviced via polygon grafix.

These are pretty reliable devices. The Aztek is very simple mechanically. A bigger consideration may be size: The only remaining Aztek model is small, max scan area around 12x10", though they have refurbed larger ones. You're not going to go wrong with either company.

Tango drum scanners are still serviced by independent technicians/engineers. Karl Hudson comes to mind. The Aztek Premier is great. I have one and i also have a Howtek 7500.
One of the good things about the Premier is that Aztek can service the scanner in the US.
They have excellent phone support and are great guys to work with.

Im not sure what the support situation is for ICG in the US but i know a few people who have trashed them saying it was to expensive to fix.
The tango's are great for production scanning but the smallest aperture iirc is equivalent to 2500 dpi.
The Premier is 8000 dpi and has a 3 micron minimum aperture.

DPL by Aztek is the only currently active and supported software that drives all of the Aztek and Howtek scanners.
I use it on the 7500 and Premier. Its very good especially compared to Trident.

If you can afford the Premier, i would go with that hands down.
