IGen 4 Calibration / Clean-up Routines

We run a shop where we are constantly changing stock in our Igen 4 and keeping colors is a pain.
• We don't use a densitometer
• we have no scheduled/routine maintenance.
• We suffer from constant streaking

What does everybody do at shift change / morning cleaning routine for an IGen 4? How much time should we expect to put into getting things in proper shape each morning? Currently our staff turns on the press and runs which for the most part is ok but we cannot print anything color critical or move to a template based system where we are printing a lot of the same thing every day. Any help is greatly appreciated.

On our color equipment we calibrate on the same stock, we do not calibrate each different stock. This keeps our color consistent but not always accurate, we can get away with that but it will depend on your customer. This saves us a lot of time.

We do not run a iGen so I don't have exact information for you on maintenance procedures but with our x800 and XPP we will run our printers HFSI to failure except for the imaging and fusing area. We will service those as they are due or soon after. Weekly I run corotron test sheets and drum test sheets to ensure all the imaging components are working independently. It's often hard to tell if a drum or corotron is bad until you print a light halftone, a composite gray or you check.

I'm not sure what would be causing your streaking, the biggest question is it streaking a single color or all colors. That will help you narrow down the location of the problem. If its all colors it could be a IBT cleaner or BTB, if it is a single color it could be a corotron, drum or developer/developer housing issue. If the iGen even has any of those parts I just rattled off.

For this machine you must have !

Yes I know that but internal densitometer is for maintain prints density not for calibaration. Also this densitometer requires cleanning.
For such machine you should buy pws laptop with service edoc and do yourself at least basic maintenance.
