Indigo Operator & Finishing Assistant – Part Time at Tiny Prints in Mountain View, CA
Tiny Prints (www.tinyprints.com) is an online retailer of personalized stationery and related products currently servicing the baby, bridal, holiday and small business markets via two national brands/websites. We are a fast-paced and growing, profitable start-up backed by Summit Partners and Technology Crossover Ventures and have received press coverage in numerous publications including The Today Show, The Wall Street Journal, Money Magazine, InStyle, Town & Country, People, Daily Candy and Martha Stewart Weddings.
The Indigo Operator, Swing Shift (2:00 pm – 8:30 pm), will be required to run and maintain our Indigo Press 5500 as well as perform finishing tasks on our Duplo Cutter and our Morgana Autocreaser 33. This is a part time position based in Mountain View, CA.
Primary Duties
1. Receive files and output on the Indigo Press 5500 using pre-defined profiles for Tiny Prints substrates.
2. Prepare and Create additional files as required
3. Ensure a full quality control is performed on all finished items
4. Create International Color Consortium (ICC) profiles on new substrates as required
5. Perform regular color calibration checks in accordance with Color Management guidelines
6. Run and maintain the Duplo 490 Hydraulic Cutter
7. Run and maintain the Morgana Autocreaser 33
8. Perform regular preventative maintenance as required
9. Become actively involved in product testing and general research and development.
10. Make suggestions with regards to improving quality and performance
11. Take full ownership of the internal production process
12. Ensure Key Performance Metrics such as Error Rates, Turnaround Times and Wastage are kept within standards.
13. Ensure working environment is kept clean and safe at all times
14. Monitor and maintain satisfactory inventory levels of raw materials
15. Some heavy lifting required (up to 40 lbs)
Experience
1. Must possess Indigo Press 5500 Level 2 Shared Maintenance certification with at least 2 years total experience
2. Supervisory experience in a print shop environment, overseeing end to end production of printed and finished pieces preferred
3. Working knowledge of Creative Suite, particularly In-Design, Illustrator and Acrobat
4. Digital photo editing experiences a plus.
5. Working knowledge of HP SmartStream Designer software
6. Experience with creating Fast Templates and setting up Hot Folder workflow
7. Experience with Color Management workflows, particularly GRACOL7 process
8. Working knowledge of finishing machines such as Cutters and Creasers.
9. Minimum education level – High School Diploma

3. Proficient in English Grammar.
4. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Resolution management skills: ability to effectively resolve issues with artwork and end product.

7. Must be self-motivated and results driven.
8. Proven ability to work unsupervised.
9. Familiarity with Lean principles a plus.
