iTunes & Limewire on a production machine

We are have a Mac 1.25Gh single processor Power PC G4 with 2 GB ram. It is a Preps machine only. Any opinions as to the detramental performance effects of using iTunes and Limewire (and MySpace, MySpace Tracker, Facebook, AOL IM, Yahoo games, etc.) while working and copying files across the network? There is Spectorsoft internet monitoring software installed on this machine for the above reasons. Don't want to get into the employee ramifications of idle time on a computer, just the machine performance.

Thanks,
Mark

Limewire is so ancient and exposing why would anyone use this. Now I can see an app like transmission, but to be honest Macs in this regard are not as efficient at p2p as a good cheap xp or vista box. You also need to make sure that LW box has PG2 running (peerguardian) :)

If it's just sitting there then no, there's no problem. Just make sure Limewire isn't running in the background by checking activity monitor. You really should uninstall it though. there's only one reason to use limewire, to steal music or programs. Having said that, your companies public IP address can be recorded and the company can be held liable for damages that the employee incurred. So get rid of it... Not to mention it's a convenient way to look at someone's machine from across the world.

If none of it's running actively in the foreground or background when processing jobs then it's fine. But get rid of Limewire asap.

Transition is also a disaster waiting to happen. Don't install any peer-2-peer programs and you should be fine. iTunes shouldn't be a problem.
