Hey guys I think there is one ebay as on now. Check the seller of he has good feed back, read description carefully and pay with PayPal - it will give you more protection in case item is not in condition as described. As far as usage - I don't own one but had seen one working - what I didn't like is that large solid of half-tone areas looked like printed on c****ppy ink-jet printer with really visible lines from printhead. (sure could be that printshop I had seen it at, does not have it set properly) Plate cost I think is pretty much as Laser plates, depends on size - $1.50 to $2.00 Being fairly inexpensive and even less if used, I thought about it but had decided to stick with my HP LaserJet 5100 and poly plates.

Hmmm...you haven't mentioned the type of work you produce which could be critical when buying a kimosetter. the plate prices listed above are generally in the ballpark however, the finest screen a kimosetter will reproduce is about 100 lpi, and it has a hard time holding even screens. Polyester plates off of a laser printer are a much better option if you produce generally 1- and 2-color line work with minimal screens. They can be found almost anywhere or simply contact me and I can provide suggestions. Good luck.

Let me start by saying that I have a bias since we developed the rip for the Kimosetter, and I certainly have no direct experience using the plates on press.

With that said, I do know that this device is very reliable and repeatable. Its quite amazing how repeatable, I've loaded the same plate and printed over it numerous times and each time it is virtually a dot for dot match with the previous printing.

There was a previous posting that talked about the seeming visible pattern in the printed plates, this is a very tiny artifact due to the way the plate stepping works when printing and I've been told by numerous people that this never shows up in the printed pieces.

Yes the upper end of the LPI is around 100 LPI. We have talked about an idea of implementing a stochastic screening option to increase the screening quality, but we've been told that stochastic would not be suitable for the kind of presses these plates are made to work with. I would love to hear more feedback on this.

When you consider this is a desktop unit that makes plates ready to go directly on the printing press with no processing and has a very low cost of ownership - this device is in a world of its own!
