Kodak has announced a new digital press & additions to its portfolio of digital and offset solutions. Following are highlights:
  • New KODAK ASCEND—electrophotographic (EP) digital press—targets high end Packaging & Retail Signage. The press is designed to print long length, heavy weight substrates with eye-catching, CMYK & flat foil embellishments in a single pass; and features production speeds up to 572 sqm/hour (5280 sqft/hour). Its large sheet length—up to 122 cm (48 inches)—allows the press to offer 23% more print area than a B2 sheet. Available Q2-2022 in North America & Europe.
  • Cloud-based PRINERGY On Demand Platform expansion—making this platform affordable for more printers. Access includes preflight, color management, file management, backup, routing, file submission, remote customer collaboration and online approvals. Available Q1-2022.
  • New PROSPER Digital Varnish—water-based varnish that can be jetted as an area or spot coat to printed packages using PROSPER S-Series or PROSPER Plus Imprinting Systems. The eco-friendly varnish can be applied in register with design elements and creates a matte protective layer providing rub & water resistance to paper-based packaging applications. Can be applied where needed, without plate making for spot coating. Available worldwide by the end of 2021.
  • Mobile CTP Control App—allows remote control & monitoring of up to 10 Kodak plate setters—provides real-time & historical data access with customizable reporting. Now available to download worldwide, for Android & iOS systems.
