I am looking for any users of Kodak ThermalNews Gold plates.
We have been having some problems within our print group all over Australia and I am hoping to see if anyone else has these problems over seas.
One problem we are seeing just lately is plate wear at about 40,000 copies. (depending on stock used)
but the oldest problem we are having which has been hapening since we were forced onto Golds (we were just using plain thermalnews until they stopped making it) is a black goo (guessing this is plate polymer) in the developer. It's a very sticky tar like substance that gets in around everything, jams up the rollers etc.
I'd love to switch do a different brand of plate, but I don't think there are really any options for news plates out there at present. (I believe Ferag are working on bringing in a plate from Xingraphics but its not quite there yet) If anyone has a suggestion of a plate for a Trendsetter News Id love to hear about it.
