Looks like Kodak wants to bail out of a growing print sector in order to get some fast cash.

CEO says “The sale of the Flexographic Packaging Division unlocks value for shareholders and strengthens our financial position by providing a meaningful infusion of cash which allows us to reduce debt, improving the capital structure of the Company and enabling greater flexibility to invest in our growth engines.”

Will they have any growth engines left?

They announced that they are restarting their Ektachrome production lines! Isn't that a growth engine? :p

Kodak has also reintroduced their Super 8 movie camera:

The company does appear to be floundering without a clear vision for its direction.

If the flexo business sale goes through it’s likely to cause a great deal of disruption at Kodak as that part of the business disengages from the company. And that’s going to be costly and probably not appreciated by existing customers and potential customers of their other offerings.

maybe they recognize that other plate manufacturers have caught up/surpassed them. they might not have any plans for improving so better sell now while they still have value.
