Hello Gordo and fellow Lithographers,

This posting is related to one I posted in the CtP forum, about the
use of On Press Developed Plates and my use of the word - Development

A PDF - this Pira research report dated 1982, is about the first litho plates
developed by water or water-based developers which form the basis of todays
CtP Plate Imaging Technology.

Regards, Alois

Gentlemen,

That looks like a very old PIRA paper. It also talks about the water/fountain solution developing the plate. AFAIK that is not the the case with Thermal direct. The unexposed coating instead is peeled away by the first few sheets of paper going through the press - hence no fountain solution contamination.

best, gordo
