needing some help for offset printing.

will my printing improve if i go for 200 lines per inch compared to my existing 150 lpi? just want to have competetive edge over other printer/supplier.

200 lpi won't make much difference over 150 lpi. Rosettes will be a bit less visible.
If you want to use screening for a competitive edge then you might consider switching to FM screening. More stable color on press, no moire, bigger gamut, much greater image fidelity, and Ink savings for you. And the visible difference in print quality is easy to demonstrate to customers.

Also one will have a lot of pain printing second turn if using conventional inks and powder. Noisy flat tints as a bonus and a lot of work with pressmen to convince them they there can be really less water, jokes aside. Plus you'll probably see a lot of interesting stuff like blankets flaws, fountain rollers flaws, legions of them. And if you'll go that road further you'll end up with auraia screening which is the top on the market (combined with Kodak quantum ctp heads)
And if you'll manage to overcome all the obstacles and give yourself some time to think that through, you'll probably find out that among all of your customers there are about 1-3% of those who really gives a damn about sharpness and details FM gives them.

simple answer yes ... but screens have to match equipment your using if you can't control the finer dot it's a waste. If the original scan/photo doesn't include enough detail you will lose it. I still go back to 600 dpi (from 1200) on the ricoh 7210 on lots of work

Whenever you increase the resolution of the screening by increasing the effective lpi, then you also increase the ability to resolve any press issues - no matter how the dots are organized - AM or FM.

This press runs FM screening for breakfast cereal boxes.

And this press runs FM screening for newspapers.

Their customers don't care about the halftone screening they use. They use FM because of the benefits in print production it can deliver versus AM screening.
