making barcodes

I have this software called PrintBar, which we have used since the mid 90's to make standard UPC codes... you simply type in the first 10 digits and it creates a Hex number you paste into illustrator and apply the Barcode font to. Simple.
Problem is it only works on OS9 and my old Mac has just about had it... I have tried to contact the software company for an upgrade but get no response. Wondering how other people make quick barcodes?

Thanks,
RG

A lot of the old software will work with Classic on the newer Macs. As soon as we click on this program, Mac starts up "Classic" and we are able to use the older software. Long story short, will it run in Classic on a Mac with a newer operating system??

Good idea, but Intel Macs don't support Classic.

Hi .

Check the Heidelberg solution for that, PDF TOOLBOX 2010, acrobat plugins

Its very easy and you can create anykind barcode, works only with pdf files.

I too use PrintBar. I run it on a G5 in Classic Mode but like DCurry said, if you have an Intel Mac it won't support Classic.

Yes, that's really my issue here is that I have an Intel mac. It's too bad because it seems to me the program is just a simple codec of some kind. However, I will try some of the other suggestions in this thread... thanks all.
