Prepress Specialist Day Shift
Capital Printing is currently seeking a Prepress Specialist to join our team. The Prepress Specialist is responsible for the processing of customer files and will pre-flight, troubleshoot, prepare and impose for final output. It will include file processing and ripping, type and color corrections, proofing, generating impositions and printing.
This is not a creative position. We are looking for someone who is very efficient and accurate at prepping customer art for print with minimum supervision. Must be self-motivated, reliable, organized, detail/quality oriented and have excellent inter-personal skills.
Main Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):
Read and follow Job Jacket instructions
Prepare artwork for offset and digital printing
Create print ready files and review supplied files for potential problems and communicate issues
Change supplied art based on customer’s suggestions
Communicate concerns found in preflight procedure
Maintain high level of quality, accuracy and productivity
Impose files for press, signature and flat based work
Send imposed files directly to plate and check plates for accuracy
Minimum Requirements:
Working knowledge of computer drawing programs (ex. Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, PitStop)
Operator must be proficient in basic file preparation for the printing processes; both offset and digital
Strong graphic design background and knowledge of standard design applications
Knowledge of color separations, screens, dot gain, resolution and offset press layouts preparation
Ability to accurately check files for color separations, fonts, links, document size, etc.
Knowledge of PDF-based prepress workflow system applications such as Apogee, Prinergy, Equios or comparable
Occasional lifting - up to 50 pounds, reaching, bending, walking, standing, pulling and pushing with or without reasonable accommodations is also required.
