New Large Format (A3) Scanner

We're in the market for a new large format scanner. An existing print contract insists we have one (although we've NEVER used it for them) and we STILL (please don't laugh, it's not funny) have 2 customers who bring in PASTE-UP BOARDS that we have to scan to produce a digital file for printing.

We currently are running a UMAX PowerLook 2100XL with SCSI interface to a G4 Mac.

We'd like to upgrade to something with USB 2.0 to connect to a newer G5 (hoping this speeds things up!) and 2400dpi. Being that the scanner does not get much use besides these 2 customers' jobs (a 4pg and a 8pg) it doesn't make sense to us to spend $3,000 on the Epson 10000.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

I have been using a Microtek 9800xl for years just for that purpose. It works great and has a firewire connection.
