New press vs Used Press

I am just curious as to the views of the modern printer as to the age old question whether to purchase a new machine or a pre-owned machine. I have sold new and now consult and broker in the used market. Maybe I'm rationalizing but it seems I'm always on the wrong side of the industry. LOL
When I was selling new machines, many of my potential Customers found the used option more attractive and now that I am working with used machines, it seems new machines are all the rage.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

i think right now its going to be tough on either side. but I would not want to be on the new press side of things. most of the big press guys have let most of the sales people go.

back in 2006 we went new.

This year we went used. Deprecation, local tax law and the actual value of print going down the toilet led to that decision. Most companies have a difficult time getting the financing for a new press. 2 million dollar press usually equals 45-55K per month depending on how you set up the terms. There's a lot of really nice used equipment out there right now. the XL's are finally starting to filter into the used market.

Hi everyone, we're small printing company but when was time to make a decision for 2 tower press purchase, I look at it this way:
New Ryobi 3302 is about $70K
Nice Used one is about $25K
We had purchased an AB Dick Century 3500 with pretty much everything - Stream feeder, IR dryer, powder, etc. for $5K for another $2K it was delivered trough half of the country, guy came with it and installed to the point of "Under power and printing", sure there was some work to be done to print saleable and there is some more ahead but we are $20K ahead of used Ryobi 3302H / HA and about $65 ahead of the new one.
I got it running OK using my technical skills and I guess talent and will and if I would have to spend another few grand on having a real tech to come in and perfect it - still good, still ahead, even if I would have to buy one more just for parts - still good.
Best of all - good press, made in USA.
