Hi! We have an Oce Plotwave 500 that has been working great. Recently, it started seeming very staticky - if you touched the front of the machine you'd get a little static shock, and the printed sheets were hovering away from each other at the edges in the top tray. It would occasionally throw error 22550 and ask for a restart, which would allow it to print again for about 50 D size sheets or so.
The tech came out and seemed baffled, and told us that was just static from dry air. He attempted to fix the machine but instead rendered it totally non-functional. He then decided he had to reinstall the operating system completely, which brought it back online. It worked for about 10 minutes (just enough time for him to leave) and then started throwing the same error code plus 22551. Restarting does not help. The machine seems to get stuck partway through the startup process and then eventually gives one of those two codes and asks for restart.
Today the tech came back and replaced a part that he said was part of the bootup control system (sorry I don't have the exact part name; I was not in the office when he came). It didn't fix anything.
My personal guess is that something is not quite seated/installed correctly, or somehow the electrical system is putting out too much charge? Does anyone know what that code is, experienced something similar, or have any suggestions? Our tech is a very nice guy but he always seems flabbergasted by our machines and often ends up taking weeks to fix problems by replacing pretty much every part. Any suggestions about where to start looking would be so appreciated. Thank you!
